Fort Belvoir North

Fort Belvoir North is an Army installation located in Fairfax County. This site is named for the former Belvoir Plantation which held a prominent seat in the Fairfax Family which Fairfax was named for. Fort Belvoir is home to many different military operations and organizations alike such as the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. This Fort in Northern Virginia has twice as many employees and the Pentagon and is the largest employer in Fairfax County. This post was founded after World War I as the US Army’s Engineer School. There are many types of housing on the base from Officer to Enlisted.

This base is about 12 miles south of Washington D.C. and near to Alexandria. On-base housing offers anywhere from 2 to 5 bedrooms in historic housing and in 15 different villages. You can experience all four seasons in Northern Virginia with snowy weather in the winter and beautiful spring blossoms such as the Cherry Blossoms along Tidal Basin, D.C. Things tend to be a bit more expensive near Fort Belvoir North because of its location near Washington D.C. and the housing market is quite competitive. There is much to do on the base including pools, parks, bowling alleys, and a movie theater.
