9. Annandale
Annandale is a census-based community located outside of Washinton, D.C. This community is known for the oldest and largest branch of the Virginia Community College System. 10. Lincolnia

11. Franconia
Franconia is a community located outside of Springfield in Fairfax County. This community has existed since the 1870s when a station by that name opened on the RF&P Railroad. Its current suburban form came to be in the 1950s as most of the other areas. Franconia is near to the Springfield Mall for all your shopping needs and in close proximity to the Springfield-Franconia Washington Metro Station. Hop on to the metro where the capitol is a short distance away!
12. Springfield
Springfield is recognized by the U.S. National Census as part of Northern Virginia, the most populated area of the Washinton Metropolitan Area. This area is dominated by three major interstates including the Capitol Beltway and is known as the Springfield Interchange. A commercial district is near to the interchange, but most of Springfield is primarily residential. The former Springfield Mall was located in Springfield interchange but closed in 2005. In 2014, the structure was bought and reopened in 2014 as the Springfield Town Center.
North Springfield is located in the southern part of Fairfax County that borders the Capital Beltway and Norfolk Southern Railway. The Capital Beltway is very accessible from North Springfield and Washington D.C. sits only 14 miles away. North Springfield is located close to the Washington D.C. area which offers many sites in the Captial and activities such as the Smithsonian Museum and the National Zoo.
14. West Springfield
West Springfield is a suburb of Washinton D.C. with a population of around 23,000 residents. West Springfield in Fairfax County is one of the highest-rated areas to live in Virginia. This community has a very dense suburban feel and has amazing school systems. There are many job opportunities in West Springfield and this community is a great place to raise a family.
15. Hybla Valley
Hybla Valley is close to Washington D.C. in Fairfax County close to Huntley Meadows Park. This highly-rated community offers an urban/suburban mix to its residents where they can have the best of both worlds. Fort Belvoir North is a community that is home to many of the Army’s Defense offices. Located in Fairfax County, Fort Belvoir North is home to many US Military organizations and has twice as many workers as the Pentagon. This community is the largest employer of the county.
